CITIC Square, West Nanjing Road

Overview

CITIC Square stands in the core of West Nanjing Road in Jing'an, forming the district's office "golden triangle" with Westgate Mall and Plaza 66, with a tenant base dominated by Fortune 500 companies. GRA is launching its premium serviced-office line here, raising the standard of the entire product line.

Design Concept

The design takes a boutique-hotel sensibility as its core: contrasting light and dark tones set the palette, accented by low-saturation metal lines and stripped of superfluous ornament - refined and understated, yet true to Nanjing Road's blend of international polish and everyday vitality. The scheme draws deeply on the neighbourhood's heritage, abstracting the lines of West Nanjing Road's historic buildings such as the Park Hotel and the Soong family residence into partitions and detailing; curated objects in the tea area evoke the layered history around Jing'an Temple. A monochrome base of black, white and grey sets a sophisticated tone, softened by warm lighting and tactile furnishings.

The Space

Circulation follows the logic of a luxury hotel. The arrival area dispenses with a conventional front desk: dark stone floors, warmly lit walls and an art focal point organise a lounge where guests can pause, wait and be received, closer to the experience of a hotel executive floor. The boardroom keeps a light base with dark edges - bright, steady and made for decisions; the small meeting room uses enclosed seating, an art cabinet and soft light for a quieter dwell; the tea room pairs a dark table with amber armchairs and curated objects for warmer conversations; executive offices combine dark desks, private meeting seats and glass partitions; the open-plan office stays efficient, clean and bright.

Progress

The project is currently under renovation and, on completion, will be the flagship of GRA's premium serviced-office line in central Shanghai. Launch is expected in October, with leasing ongoing.
